FAQs for Your Ladakh & Turtuk Trip
Yes, Turtuk and the area up to Siachen Base Camp are restricted zones requiring special Inner Line Permits (ILP) for Indian citizens. Our package includes the arrangement of all necessary permits, so you don't have to worry about the paperwork.
Turtuk is one of the northernmost villages in India and was under Pakistani administration until 1971. It has a unique Balti culture, which is very different from the rest of Ladakh. You'll notice changes in language, traditions, and even the landscape, which is much greener due to the lower altitude.
While civilians cannot go onto the glacier itself, the trip to Siachen Base Camp allows you to visit the memorial dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives on the glacier. It's a humbling experience that offers a perspective on the harsh conditions and the valor of the Indian Army.
This trip involves long road journeys and high altitudes, making it more suitable for adults and older children with a good level of fitness. Proper acclimatization is extremely important for everyone. We recommend consulting a doctor before planning such a trip with young children.
